I thought my clumsy accidents were behind me, but a couple of weeks ago I fell down the stairs going up to our apartment, there are 19, all in a row. Luckily I did not fall down all of them, just enough to kind of bang myself up pretty good. Could have been much worse and I am thankful I didn't break anything. Hopefully that will be the end of things like that! I am back to as normal as I get!
Last week we visited what they call the "campo," It was quite an experience. We were going to visit one of Will's students family. We climbed into the back of a little toyota pickup. The total amount of people in the pickup was 26! They put as many as they can in there, several were standing on the bumper hanging on. We had to go up and down mountains, over huge rocks and two rivers. We stayed there for a couple hours. Very humble conditions, no electricity, no running water. After visiting for a couple of hours we were able to catch a ride in another pickup to go back. As soon as we got into town it started to rain, and their rain is like our cloud bursts. We were being watched over to get off the mountain when we did, as the pickups can't travel when conditions are like that, (or don't like to, not sure if it is possible). I am not sure where we would have stayed for the night, no hotels, a few families off the trail, glad we didn't have to find out! Another experience that we will remember!
We have been packing things up we want to take home and getting rid of the rest. The big item we still need to do is to sell the car, it has been a fix and repair daily car so will be glad to get rid of it. We do have it in fairly good condition.
We have been having quite a few visitors and invitations to dinner before we go, so are quite busy. We will miss the people we have grown to love here, but are excited to see the people we love back at home.
